Dakle, na netu se pojavio neki ultra-novi virus koji ocito ulazi u komp preko Gugla. Da li samo preko pretrage ili i preko gmail-a, ne znam jos. Problem je u tome sto taj virus napada samo NTFS tabelu koja je najbitnija prilikom dizanja sistema, tj. kad je on pojede, sistem se nece dici i onda mozete da se pozdravite sa svim stvarima sa C diska. Jedina opcija za sada je izgleda formatiranje C particije i dizanje novog sistema, ali, jel', tada je sve vec uzalud ako ste izgubili stvari sa C diska.
Tako da, da ne biste prosli kao ja (dva puta!- kreten), preporucujem da sacuvate sve sa C diska na D disk, ako imate, ili na neki CD, DVD, USB ili bilo koji medijum sa tim skracenicama, ali uglavnom, sprecite za svaki slucaj...

U utorak nece biti konsultacija u redovnom terminu jer ce u tom terminu biti odbrana master rada Svetlane Djordjevic o dramama E. Olbija, D. Mameta i S. Separda. Odbrana ce trajati oko sat vremena, pa svi oni koji to zele, mogu da prisustvuju jer ce biti reci o dramama koje obradjujemo na kursu.
Konsultacije ce se odrzati po zavrsetku odbrane, negde od 1 do 2, tj. do pocetka casa.

Peti međunarodni interdisciplinarni skup „Susret kultura”_informacije za volontere

Povodom 55 godina od osnivanja Filozofskog fakulteta u Novom Sadu organizuje se Peti međunarodni interdisciplinarni simpozijum SUSRET KULTURA koji će se održati 1. decembra 2009. godine, na Dan Fakulteta. Simpozijum će okupiti dve stotine istraživača iz zemlje i iz inostranstva.

Change to course plan

Dear students,

Thank you for filling in the mid-term course evaluations. Most of you are satisfied with the course as a whole, but have also complained about the workload. To solve the problem, we’ve dropped Unit 5 from the lesson plan. In its place we’re going to spend longer on Unit 4, which is without question the most demanding. We’ll also use class time to prepare for the final exam. In return, you must do a really thorough job on Unit 4. (Although most of you need no reminder, and are already doing a good job, several others are simply not doing the work. Those in this second category are respectfully warned.) Next week we’ll distribute a revised timetable with a new breakdown of points. In the meantime, start working on Unit 4. Regards from your instructors.

Ni u utorak 10. novembra necemo imati cas zbog bolesti.

The Transatlantic Walt Whitman Association (TWWA), founded in Paris in 2007, invites students, researchers, and Whitman enthusiasts to participate in its third annual Whitman Week, consisting of a seminar for advanced students interested in Whitman and Whitman’s poetry, and a symposium bringing together international scholars and graduate students.

International Whitman Seminar: Walt Whitman’s Poetry in the 21st Century

Università di Macerata

Walt Whitman’s poetry, written in the nineteenth century, continues to have a strong impact on literatures and cultures worldwide. Every year new editions of Whitman’s work are published in a variety of languages; an ever-expanding group of poets “reply” to him in their poetry; his poems are set to music and are quoted in films; he is invoked in the discussion of political and cultural issues as well as of gender and sexuality; and he continues to be a huge presence in college and university curricula globally.

In order to respond adequately to this international phenomenon The Transatlantic Walt Whitman Association sponsors a series of International Whitman Seminars, where students from different countries come together for intensive, credit-bearing classes taught by an international team of Whitman specialists.

The first seminar was held in Dortmund, Germany, in June 2008. The second took place in Tours, France, in June 2009. The third will take place in Macerata, Italy, on 14-20 June 2010. In the regular classes, focusing on some of Whitman’s major poems, students will have an opportunity confront Whitman’s books, share their readings of key poems and clusters, and discuss Whitman’s attempts at a multilingual English, his cohesive representation of human relations, and his work’s international significance in the twenty-first century. In addition, there will be special presentations on the reception of Whitman in various countries and languages as well as other topics. This year’s instructors will be Éric Athenot (Université François-Rabelais, Tours), translator of the 1855 Leaves and author of Walt Whitman, poète-cosmos; Betsy Erkkila (Northwestern University), author of Walt Whitman among the French and Walt Whitman the Political Poet; Kenneth M. Price (University of Nebras
ka, Lincoln), co-founder and editor of the Walt Whitman Archive, author of To Walt Whitman, America; and Andrew Lawson (Leeds Metropolitan University), author of Walt Whitman and the Class Struggle.
Students will also participate in the symposium held at the end of the week and featuring Whitman scholars from various countries.
Credits will be issued by the Università di Macerata. International visiting students will live with their Italian counterparts, thus keeping expenses as low as possible and creating opportunities for a meaningful intercultural dialogue. In addition to class work on Whitman and the symposium, students will visit Giacomo Leopardi’s house in Recanati, and will be shown some of the artistic and architectural treasures of the area. Macerata is a historic city of 42,000 people in the Marche region of Italy set on the hills sloping down to the Adriatic Sea. The university, located in the beautiful original walled city, owns some of the most interesting historical buildings, including Palazzo Ugolini-- the first Neoclassical palace in Macerata, designed by the famous architect Valadier-- where the Seminar and Symposium will be held .
Application: 15 non-Italian international students will be accepted to the Week. Applications should include a curriculum-vitae, a one-page statement of interest in the seminar, and a short letter of support by an instructor who knows the applicant. Applications should be sent to camboni@unimc.it by 4 April 2010 at the latest.

International Whitman Symposium: "‘In Paths Untrodden’: The 1860 Leaves of Grass"
Università di Macerata, June 18-19, 2010

This year’s symposium will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Leaves of Grass 1860.It will be devoted to the body of the 1860 Leaves with a particular focus on the many new paths Whitman opened with it. Papers are invited to cover a wide range of approaches to Whitman’s poems: his experimenting with multilingualism and textual construction, his focus on the cohesive and energizing power of human relationships and attachments, his belief in the creative force of love, language and poetry, his anxieties about the impending civil war. Papers focusing on international responses to the poems in the 1860 Leaves, including translations into other languages, are also strongly encouraged.

One-page abstracts should be sent to Marina Camboni, Università di Macerata (camboni@unimc.it), Ed Folsom (ed-folsom@uiowa.edu), and Jay Grossman (j-grossman@northwestern.edu) by 21 April, 2010.

Dakle, pocinjemo novu sezonu :)
Ne znam da li svi znaju za ovo, ali, evo, ako neko ne zna - postoji stipendija za studente zavrsnih godina studija u iznosu od 25000 din. mesecno. Za sada jos nije izasao konkurs, ali su mi rekli da ce izaci tokom septembra ili oktobra i da ce rok za skupljanje papira biti oko mesec dana.
Koliko sam ja shvatio, sistem prijavljivanja je isti kao i za onu redovnu stipendiju od 5100 din., samo sto za ovu treba vise papira, dobijaju samo 1000 ljudi i uz potpisivanje ugovora se potpisuje dokument koji garantuje da ce neko ko je dobio stipendiju raditi u Srbiji u vremenu od pet od sledecih osam godina po zavrsetku studija.

2. Gospodin Dzonatan Menuti, diplomata u Americkoj ambasadi odrzace predavanje na temu "Osnivanje Amerike" u utorak, 14. aprila sa pocetkom u 18.30.

Gospodin Menuti zavrsio je Jel univerzitet i radio u Americkim ambasadama u Kazahstanu, Rusiji, Grckoj i Severnoj Koreji.

3. U znaku dzeza koji obelezava mesec april, u petak 17. aprila u 19 casova bice otvorena izlozba fotografija "Dzez u ExYu".

Ova izlozba rezultat je foto konkursa koji je bio otvoren od 10. marta do 10. aprila. Ovom prilikom bice dodeljene nagrade najboljim fotografima koji su ucestvovali na konkursu.

Several students have expressed concern about the fact that then number of credits on the Faculty website and the machine downstairs do not correlate, nor do they coincide with whatever is in the yellow book (that we have now been told to ignore).

I spoke with Prof. Felbabov and the Dept. Secretary today about this, and they promised to put up a new listing of classes, WITH credit numbers, under the glass thingy in the hallway outside 72/II, early next week.

Information about the NJV 1 Oral Exam

A sign-up sheet has been posted on the message board for the oral exam on Feb. 5th. If you know who your partner will be, choose a time slot and fill in both of your names. If you don't have a preference, write your name in at a time when you would like to come. Please choose an open slot next to someone else who doesn't have a partner, if possible. We will take the sign-up sheet down the morning before the exam to make any necessary adjustments in scheduling. The final schedule will be posted outside 87/II before the exam starts.

The exam has been divided into two sessions, one starting at 12.00 and the next at 15.00. On the day of the exam, please stop by 87/II at the beginning of your session to confirm when your slot is. PLEASE be on time so we can take care of everyone's exam as quickly and efficiently as possible.
