To Academic Writers:
Your homework is to write an outline for your leaflet. Don't write the leaflet.

1. Read your handout on "Beginning to Write", especially p.3 (Planning your Writing - the Outline).
2. Make notes (short phrases, key words etc) about the main points you will put in your leaflet, using the language you would need to actually write the leaflet.
3. Take just 15 minutes to write your outline.
4. Give it to me next week.

To all 3rd year students:

Here is our reply from the Head of the English Department:

1, Academic writing is compulsory for students from translating, teaching and literature streams, but elective for students from the linguistic stream.

2. Students should earn 30 points per semester. In reality, as the points are tallied at the end of the year, they would require 60 points in total (before enrolling in the following year).

3. The number of courses students take varies with the points value of the courses.

To 3rd year students:

I haven't yet heard back from anybody in authority with answers to your questions about Academic Writing.

As far as I know:

1. Academic Writing is an elective (i.e. not compulsory) subject for Linguistic stream students. For all other students it is compulsory.

2. Each term you should be able to enrol in courses (usually 8 of them) that are worth at least 30 ESB points. You can check this on the university web-site: http://www.ff.ns.ac.yu/studije/osnovne/studije_osnovne_anglistika.html

E sad - ja sam joj poslao da u Zutoj knjizi pise drugacije, tj. da je obavezno samo za knjizevni smer, i pitao je da proveri jos jednom sa nekim i da javi, tako da, ako javi, javicu vam...
